Lifes Callings

I've decided when things start to get comfortable, we should expect things to challenge us and stretch us. I just got called to be an early morning seminary teacher. I have been teaching for 7 days now and it will be a challenging opportunity. I've enjoyed studying the scriptures in order to teach, but the early mornings are a bit more challenging. I tend to be somewhat of a night owl and if I don't go to bed it is tough in the morning. If anyone has any suggestions for what made seminary great or terrible for you. I would much appreciate any help. My first week of teaching also was the the week I catered a wedding the first in almost a year. It required a little juggling, but it should get easier. As for the weddding it seemed to be a success. It was for the Shane and Lauren Dyer (wedding we attended in DC a few weeks ago). There was approximately 160 guests and it was a beautiful evening. I hope the food was good for everyone. I spend so much time with it all, by the end I can't tell if anything is good or not. I will hopefully have some pictures soon that I can share of the display, I think it turned out pretty nice. Now things are settling down and maybe I can spend more time preparing for seminary. I am excited about general conference and the spiritual boost it brings. Have a great weekend.

Wow, that's awesome! I am such you will be great once you get into the groove. Ryan's brother teaches and I admire him (and YOU) so much! I loved the teachers that got to know me and cared about my life. It made a difference in my desire to be a good student. Let us know how it goes!

WOW! I'm sure you are GREAT. you were always a great RS teacher.
the seminary teachers I liked the best were the ones who LOVED the scriptures and were so excited about it. your passion & enthusiasm will get them excited, too. and they LOVED us & cared about us, like rachel said. the one I didn't like liked to argue about stupid doctrinal points, which I'm sure you don't do!

don't worry about the blank stares too much - remember, IT'S DARK & EARLY and they are TEENAGERS... I'm sure they love having a fun, young teacher.
you will be great! (if I, on the other hand, ever got that calling I would have a total break-down. I've only ever done music, girls camp or sunbeams. don't think I can teach a lick!)

do post pictures of the pretty food you made for the wedding, I'm sure it was ALL awesome, delicious!
you go!
